This year Pinterest revealed that Gen Z and Millennials are embracing an intergalactic aesthetic from holographic home décor and moon-dust-inspired opalescent eyeshadow to futuristic silhouettes that look straight out of a sci-fi film.

Take Zara Larrson for example. Searches for ‘Alien-inspired makeup’ and ‘soft dewy makeup’ increased +140% and +115% times. Reflecting both generations’ enduring fascination with the unknown, revealing our need for wonder, reinvention, and meaning beyond the ordinary.

Influenced by the Y2K nostalgia and the rise of maximalist culture, the aesthetic embraces metallic eyeshadows and lip glosses, and ethereal alien-like makeup looks that feel both dreamy and cutting-edge. 

This celestial trend also represents a desire to imagine life beyond the ordinary, where fashion and beauty feel immersive, boldly experimental and otherworldly.
